How many people get to say they had a child with a nice case of the chicken pox?!?! This is Ashley back in February 2001!!! She was 11 months old and had a GREAT case of them!!!! Because she was so young, she didnt really scratch at them. She does have some scars from them... and you should have seen the looks we got from people!!! But.. this was pretty momentous because WOW! Yeah... I think you "get it"
Here I am back on 11/25/2007.... getting ready to be the mother to a son.... a very momentous occasion when you are used to preparing for the birth of your daughters... finally.... a mother to a son.... amazingOne of our momentous occasions was the birth of Kiley Claire... our Third daughter. She was born on December 19. 2004 at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. She weighed in at 6lbs and 1oz... she was born via my very first c section after I had been in the hospital for 16 days. I had a complete placenta previa and was put in to the hospital at 34 weeks to stay until we delivered. We lived over an hour away from medical facilities and it would have taken a long time for an ambulance to get to me if I had started to bleed. I had had some "spotting" so they had to put me in the hospital. Having the placenta previa was a very very scary part of my life. I felt as if I had a "terrorist" inside of my body just waiting to attack me when I least expected it... and it being ALL over for me and my precious baby.
While I was in the hospital, Grandma flew out to Washington from Rhode Island to take care of the girlies.... (Ashley and Sydney) because Chris still had to go to work (US Navy).... While I was in the hospital, Grandma would take the girls to feed the horses... in their little Barbie Volkswagon Bug... and Ashley had her dream come true... to "ride" a horse... which is still her passion... we just dont live near horses anymore... so... here is Ashley and Sydney on the ride of their life....
Despite many reassurances by medical persons at the hospital... my 36.2 week baby still needed a stay in the NICU.... She had "bowel loops" which we still to this day do not know why... When she was 10 days old, she had a barium enema and that is when her meconium came out (usually out within 24 hours after birth) It has not been ruled out the possibility she has Hirschsprung's disease.. but since becoming potty trained... things seem to be ok... for now. (and some miralax at times)... so, Kiley stayed in the NICU from 12/19/04 until 1/6/05.... her first christmas was spent in the NICU as well as her first new years .... and christmas was spent with an IV in her head.... just when I went in with her pretty "My first Christmas" outfits.... the IV site backed up about 1 hour after we left.... go figure...

Well.... Skip on over to visit Jessica at Farm Fresh and get in on the FUN! This weeks theme is MOMENTOUS OCCASION! Well... because we are a military family, we travel ALOT and see ALOT of things that many people will never get the opportunity to see... I could overload this whole system with pics from 1 of our 5 different cross country road trips... I could play with my dinosaur computer to scan in some wedding pics... but I think I will try and see what I can come up with from just some stored photos to share with you some of our "MOMENTOUS OCCASIONS"
I have had things like... getting married... having babies... getting engaged... etc. etc. etc. but I can not reach the boxes of those ol' 35mm pictures in my storage... so I cant scan them.... maybe I will be able to get the dinosaur computer roaring... and load some others up later! for now... that is some momentous stuff eh?
Cant wait to see yours!

love these - and yes, there is nothing like having a son!(I had 3 c-sects and TOTALLY prefer it to normal delivery!)
Thanks for the congratulations! Wow that chicken pox picture pains me just looking at it! Luckily she won't remember I'm sure. Anyway, what a unique story! Thanks for sharing!
I have two girls and am waiting for a chance to have a son!
Beautiful pictures and stories!!! Although the chicken pox one made me itch, LOL! At least she looked happy in the midst of the pox!
Boys are so much fun!! I am so glad I was blessed with one---now if only I could convince hubby for another.....
Oooh, another military family!! Love the pics, horses are great :) I NEVER outgrew the fascination, and she is now in my front yard eating grass :D
Chicken pox-wow. I would rather have my children naturally inoculated like that!
I love how you included making your daughter's dream come true in your momentous occasions.
