Thank you to all of you for your encouragement in my endeavor. I NEED to do this.
My mother had a heart attack when she was 39 years old. I am only 8 years away from being that old. I don't want to miss a day with my children. I want to be healthy for them. I want to be healthy for me. I want to be around to watch every milestone of life they reach.
I weighed myself tonite and weighed 206 lbs. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did not get the measurements of my bust/waist/hips. The girls used my little flexible measuring tape thingie and I cant find it!
All about the run.... I have not measured the distance! I did the 8 cycles of the running and walking (20 minutes) The 90 seconds of walking was a pretty long time. It didnt seem short at all. I included some incline in the run. It wasnt at the exact time I wanted it to be. It was later than I wanted it to be. I definitely worked up a sweat. I am slow. I need to do Kegel exercises. TOO MUCH INFO but I felt like I was going to pee. I guess that is what having 4 babies will do to you! So, add that to my list of things I need to do. Right now I feel as if I want to vomit. It didnt feel like a million bucks running for sure. But it is SOMETHING I CAN DO! I had so much I wanted to write about regarding my running.
OH... I know something... ok... it is obvious I have a HUGE RACK.... I have a huge chest even when I am not nursing. It is NOT comfortable even with a nice tight sports bra on to run. Is it damaging to breast tissue running when they are giant and bouncing as you run? What can I do to make it less uncomfortable to have these loads out in front of me? Do I wrap an ace bandage around them? I felt like I needed to hold them as I jogged. As you can see from my after pic my face turns BRIGHT red.. it is SO embarrassing. In High School I used to run cross country. I was NOT good at it. I always came in last place. Seriously. I did it to be involved in something.
I played Rugby in college. I wasnt the best at that either. I was decent at softball... even played some college ball... ah well...
Here is the beginning of my journey.... I did it. And I am proud of myself. Now.. to keep the motivation. What should I do on the off days from running? Ride my bike for a bit?? Shouldnt I do something daily? Ali, did you get around to doing it today!??!?! I know how hard it is to work it in to being a parent. It took me ALL day literally to get a chance. And note to self... try not to run AFTER dinner time... that felt like dookie.
Hi Stretch marks... eww... when i run my shorts ride up and my shirt rides up too... FUN!

Responses to questions and random thoughts:
I bought a pair of Asics Foundation VI shoes - they fit into the category of "motion control" and are for people with flat or no arches. Once you find out what size and type your foot is, check out runnersworld.com for shoe reviews and recommendations. I found that ebay has quite a few new shoes at about 1/2 of the retail cost.
I usually eat a Lean Cuisine steamer or leftovers for lunch, trying to stay in the 250-400 calorie range, with a total daily intake of about 1500-2000 calories.
When you mentioned the heart attack thing it made me think of something my mother in law said to me. We were at my in-laws 4th of July weekend and as I was getting ready to go running, my MIL says, "Aren't you afraid you're going to have a heart attack while you're running?" To which I replied, "No, I'm afraid I'll have a heart attack if I don't run."
My wife started eating healthier at the same time I did and she takes walks with our daughter about 3x a week. She weighed exactly the same as you and she's lost 10 lbs so far...so if you're running and dieting, hopefully you'll see similar results in the next 8-10 weeks.
I try to run 30-60 minutes after dinner so that I have energy from the food but don't feel sick. I try to stay away from potatoes and other heavy foods on running nights.
I didn't get a chance to run last night so I'm doing Tue-Thu-Sat this week.
You can do it!! We're rooting for you!
