I saw Grandma...

Well... my parents hit the road yesterday from Bradenton, Florida... picking my grandmother up from the Manatee Springs nursing home that she was in. Grandma's wish was to go home to the Scandinavian Nursing home to live out the days of her life. So. They rented a van after they found out grandma was clear from MRSA and C. Diff.
They drove all night long... they did not stop as they are not very able to pick grandma up and she is not able to bear weight on her legs nor move them much on her own. For most of the ride, the instructions were to give her her Xanax and her pain medication. So, that is what they did.
Mom and Dad stopped by quickly to say hello to the girls and to see the baby since they have not seen him since the end of March. I sat the baby on Grandma's legs to try and get her to open her eyes and look at him. The sunlight was hitting his head just right so that she would have been able to see how Red his hair is. But she didnt open her eyes.
My mother was asking my grandmother if she wanted to see the baby. The girls were Saying "Grandma Goff!" but.. she didnt respond to their little voices. She DID knod her head to agree that she wanted to see the baby but still could not manage to open her eyes. The last time I talked to Grandma on the phone I was talking with her about his red hair. How she should see it in the sunlight. And today, she cant even respond. I guess she has been like this for a couple of days. Not really responding to my mother and not quite knowing it is my mother who was in the room with her.
I do not even want to get in to how she appears. It is really sad to think she used to be able to hold the baby and enjoy looking at him.. not even 3 months ago... and now this....
I hope the end is near for her sake... although I do not want to think of her passing.... ugh...
