It was about 9am and the baby was sleeping so I figured I would get in the shower because I had to bring him to an appointment for the boogers in his eyes and nose. Kiley always takes a shower with me and it is easier that way to get her nice and clean and keep an eye on her while I am showering. She decided it was a great day to fight me with her hair washing. She managed to fall out the door and land on the metal door frame on her privates. This is an older free standing shower. She sort of slid out on to the floor and the only part of her body she bumped was her privates area. She laid down on the towel that was on the floor and was grabbing herself. Then I saw the blood. I thought oh man! That is alot of blood but didnt know if it was really alot of blood because of the fact that she was wet from being in the shower. I immediately called Chris at work and told him he had to come home. We brought her to the local hospital as soon as he came home. We waited about an hour in the ER waiting room waiting to be seen. 3 people came in complaining of chest pain so we kept getting pushed back in Triage. When the lady who checks everyone in was finally able to get us back, the triage nurse tried to look at the injury and it squirted. (Too much info I know) and that is when I LOST IT... I had kept my composure until that point. But that was scary. WHY in the world was it squirting?!?!? FROM WHERE would it be squirting???? They brought us back to a room and we waited in there some more while at this point she was oozing quite a bit of blood consistently. Well... then the ER doc came in to check it and sure enough, it squirted again! ALOT... and FAR... I have never seen anything like it. At that point he told us he was going to have to have the Surgeon people to come and take a look because there was a lot of blood and they did not know where exactly it was coming from. They thought it was coming out of her vagina and not just out of the small laceration they could see on her labia area. So... I then go out and try to call my sister and my parents. My parents are still in Florida. My sister has to work and I did not know what was going to be going on. All I knew at that point was that some kind of surgical procedure was going to be happening to my little girl which would include violating her girl parts. My sister and I worked out what was going to happen to Ashley and Sydney during all of this. I went back in and was informed that they were not going to be doing the procedure at this hospital and that she was going to be brought to Yale Hospital in New Haven, CT. That hospital is an hour away from the one we were at. Here I am at this point thinking the absolute WORST things I can think. Then we were sitting there waiting for about another 1/2 an hour for them to come and put a pressure dressing on her... and waiting for the ambulance. Well, to say the least, the ambulance came before they even decided to put the pressure dressing on. AND they only did it at OUR request. The ambulance workers were the ones who helped out the most with getting the dressing on her... and I PROVIDED the pull up to hold whatever it was in place because they didnt know if they had anything that would be able to hold it tight enough. HUH???? So, the ambulance workers were very nice... and they loaded her up and off she went with daddy... and I was left behind with CJ and feeling such a pain in my heart watching my other baby roll away... and just the conflicting feelings of both of my littlest babies needing me. CJ is a nursling and needs me. Kiley is a 3 year old and all 3 year olds need their mommies... and ugh.. it was horrible. I called my wonderful friend Ju who helped me to get through the worst moments of my life. Talking to her has always been a good reassurance for my emotions that everything was going to be ok. I went home and made all the arrangements for the girls to be picked up for the night by my brother in law. I surprised them by picking them up from school early. Ashley, my worry wart told me she thought that she was going to throw up because she was worried about Kiley. Then she told me she thought she was going to cry because she was worried. I had to cancel the appointment that I had for CJ regarding his booger eyes and nose. I then took off to New Haven right after the girls were picked up. Once I got there and paid my $8.00 in parking fees, I figured out where I had to go to find my little girl. She was still in the ER but was awaiting her trip to the OR for the exploratory procedures. She had had some morphine at this point and was quite a groggy little girl. So beautiful none the less..... Everyone is always smitten by her precious barbie doll eyes.... and her adorable little personality. We were then brought up to the OR holding room where the surgeon came and talked to us about how Social Services would have to come and talk to us at some point because of the nature of the injury which we were fine with that. And then they rolled my baby away... and I felt horrible letting her roll away yet knowing she was in great hands. The entire procedure only took about 40 minutes before they were back to tell us that she was ok! It only took 1 stitch to repair the injury but she because the laceration was in Vascular tissue, it is a bloody injury. They brought us to the recovery room where my precious baby was laying. She looked so tiny in the big stretcher. She had oxygen on her face and all the monitors hooked up to her little body. Her face was all puffy from all the fluids they had pushed in to her. They told us to let her rest peacefully for abour 45 minutes because should she wake up before that, she would most likely be very agitated. When she finally woke from her anesthesia, she tried to sit up quickly and was really growling mad! HAHAH! Once she saw us and figured out where she was with US she was ok. She sat on Daddy for a while... and then had to pee and she peed ALOT! and there was NO BLOOD! YAY! She ate a popsicle and a cup of apple juice and was able to hold it all down and not puke it out! We waited for transport to pick her up because she needed to stay the night to check her blood levels and just for observation and make sure she wasnt going to start bleeding again. She thought she was going to go in another "fire truck" ride and got really worried. She was reassured once we got up to her cozy room. Daddy spent the night with her... I hung out for a while with her until she was eating and peeing and doing all the normal kid things. I went home for the night... Today when I talked to Chris he told me that Kiley is anemic from all the blood loss and we really have to push her iron for about a month for her to bounce back really well. She was so happy to see me when I got there today but was hoping I had brought her big sissies with me. I brought her a gift with a toy pug in it becuase "Soapy" toys are her favorites! She is gathering quite the little collection of Soapy's. Last year we had neighbors who had gotten a real pug and her name was Sophie... so, now that has been Kileys absolute FAVE! WE saw one at the pet store a couple of weeks ago she wanted to bring home SO badly! She got a cool eagle stuffed animal from her ambulance ride. It has a T shirt on with the name of the ambulance company. She said it is a girl but has not named it yet. And her Pug, well, it's name is Soapy. When Kiley came out of the anesthesia, she immediately wanted to put on her new shoes we got on Sunday. (Pink Jelly Shoes) and wore them almost her whole hospital stay... She was able to get a brand new toy from the hospital toy closet as well at her discharge. I have to say, Yale New Haven Children's Hospital was a much more enjoyable experience than the times I have had at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Well, Mainly the ER at Hasbro. So, we bid farewell to the infant/Toddler floor and drove our little butts home and took an AWESOME nap... and Daddy went to pick up the biggies in Rhode Island. Kiley is home safe and sound with one stitch after an exploratory procedure. A whopper of a bruise on her privates... and lots of hugs and kisses for mommy and daddy. That had to have been one of the scariest days I have ever had in my entire life. I have never seen so much blood. I am glad we were given optimum care... and everyone is happy and healthy again. Thank you all for your prayers and concern... and if anyone knows what it means when an ambulance worker says "We are going on a five" please let me know! Thank you.... here are some pics of my little girl today pre-discharge....

Oh gosh how scary. Glad she's no worse for wear though. That must have been so hard to have to leave her and to watch her drive off in the ambulance too.
