I forgot to post that Ashley made a blog like her sister... I think she is even more quirky than Sydney! LOL!
Her blog can be found here....
So, I sent in the forms for the local new magnet school on a whim... it was a shot in the dark. I sent one in for all of the girls. I guess the lottery drawing was done on monday and I assumed that since we had not heard, none of the girls got in. Well, today of all days... I got the call that Kiley was chosen in the lottery for the all day kindergarten at the magnet school! What a joy!!! I just assumed there was no way any of the kids would get in! A couple hours later I got a message on the machine stating that Sydney was #4 on the waiting list for the 3rd grade and now all we have to do is wait and see what will happen with Ashley. They actually would all get a bus to that school. I was not happy with Sydney's report card today and we have had issues with her class all year. So, I will be following up with getting her the evaluations her neurologist wants even though I think many of the issues have to do with the amount of substitutes she has had this year and the chaos of the classroom that the teacher even admitted to at the last conference. It could be a fresh start for her at the magnet school!! I heard the names move up the list rather quickly.

Well, good luck getting them all in. That would be a pain having them in different schools. Do you know anything about the teachers at her current school? Did she get her teacher assignment for next year? Here we don't find out until like 2 weeks before school starts because we live in a transient school district. However, since I have such a good relationship with the principal I usually can find out ahead who the teacher they are getting will be. I've had some preferences over the years. This year I don't mind too much. I like all the 5th grade teachers. Natalie has a preference, but really I think she would do well in each of their classes. And Kaitlyn well two of the 2nd grade teachers are retiring so I don't know who will replace them. The only teacher I know who's remaining in 2nd grade Natalie had. She's a great teacher, but I prefer that Kaitlyn not get a teacher that her sister had. They are too different. But anyways, if you are unsure about the magnet school you might want to start talking to the principal now in her current school to see what they can do about relieving your issues. What is it that the neurologist thinks is going on that's causing her to struggle in school? Have you considered having the school test her for any disabilities? Maybe you can get some things written on paper on how to better serve her. We just had testing done of Kaitlyn. It turned up nothing developmentally wrong with her, but it did give us some interesting insights into her and the kind of learner she is. I'm anxious to see what sort of improvement she makes with the correct instruction.
