Was pretty much useless.
We do know he does NOT have Cataracts. OK... so, it says Leukocoria or something on the papers. They are in the car. That is the "reason" he was seen. Or... rather... the retina anomoly or something like that. BOY I AM PRECISE...
Anyways... the doc dilated CJ's eyes and we waited. Have you tried to hold down a 13 month old while he is having drops put in to his eyes? ahh.... it isnt quiet.... to say the least.
I believe we may be trying to set the world record for how many times can we torture a 13 month old in one week.... after being poked 5 different times last week for a measly blood test that came back normal... at 2 different places mind you! It was an all day ordeal..
The doc said CJ's right eye is ok. The spot he has to see in his left eye... he couldnt see it. He said that when he would cover CJ's right eye, he would get more upset than when he would cover his left eye... so, he is thinking it is possible CJ might not be able to see out of his left eye as well... I dont know how much truth there is to this....
The doc said that CJ will have to see a pediatric opthalmologist (further from home) ASAP next week to rule out things like Coat's and Retinoblastoma (2 scary things I had initially found when I googled the white eye flash concern).... and etc.
I wish the doctor had been more persistant with trying to see in CJ's left eye. HE was worried about traumatizing the baby. I am worried about a rare tumor... I think he could have stood at CJ's LEFT side to look in the left eye... instead of remaining on the right side of the baby... of course he is NOT going to look to the LEFT when the man with the light on his fore head is on his RIGHT side.... geesh.... ah well.
I wish that we could have driven further down I95 AWAY From home TODAY WHILE his eyes were already dilated vs. having to re do it again monday.
So, no real answers from today's torturous appointment. Still need to rule out scary scary things. Geesh.... 2009 is SUPPOSED to be a better year.....
Chris will be away next week so I get to do this by myself.... and then again follow up on Sydneys Wolff Parkinson White on Tuesday in Providence.... hoping the catheterization worked!
Busy Busy week ahead.... any prayers would be GREATLY Appreciated that the medical gray cloud over our house might be able to take a hike!
Happy 14th Birthday, Alyssa

I know it's hard to do, but try not to worry. I don't understand why he wasn't referred to a pediatric opthalmologist to begin with. Seems to me that for a baby especially that would have made the most sense. Hopefully you'll have answers next week and it turns out to be nothing. Or maybe just that he needs to wear glasses and it's something simple. Good luck next week.
